Musical box produces music by means of pins on a revolving cylinder that strike the tuned teeth of a comb-like metal plate.

That's how it works: The ratchet lever [1] rotates the cylinder [2], the brail plucks the comb [3] which produces the music. The whole thing rests on the bedplate [4].
